The Classic Double Challenge is hosted by Melissa at One Librarian’s Book Reviews. The goal is to read a classic and a modern re-telling of that classic. Fairy tales, mythologies, classics, or any kind of original story all count. I use this goal to get me to read classics that I haven’t read yet with a new, modern version of it.
Medium Level – 4 books (2 sets)
There are so many great re-tellings coming out next year, but here are the two classic books that I really want to read next year.
DONE 1. Peter and Wendy by J. M. Barrie + Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson
Peter Pan and Tiger Lily Classic Double Post
2. The Scarlet Pimpernel by Emmuska Orczy + Across the Star Swept Sea by Diana Peterfreund (I want to watch the movie with Jane Seymour, too!)
3. The Invisible Man by H. G. Wells + Transparent by Natalie Whipple

Yeah! I’m so glad you decided to join up again this year. And definitely give The Scarlet Pimpernel movie a try – it is one of my absolute favorites!

I vaguely remember watching it as a kid and all my friends loved it. I didn’t think it was a bad movie, but I didn’t get the fangirling. I hope my tastes have changed!
