Mailbox Monday ~28~ Birthday Edition

April 30, 2012 By Jessica Filed Under: In My Mailbox 10 Comments

Format: select

I’m really excited to join Mailbox Monday! When I first started blogging and saw In My Mailbox posts, it seemed so natural to me to post them on Mondays.  It was a few weeks before I realized every one put these posts on Saturday which I thought was weird.  Mailbox and Monday just seemed to go together for me so I kept my posts on Monday (since I had no desire to blog 7 days a week) and got left out of a lot of the traffic from the linky that was on Sunday.  So I’m hoping that now that I’ve found others who post on Monday, I can network and have more fun!  And you know what else I love about Mailbox Monday? The host changes every month so it shares the traffic love.  Okay, it makes it a little hard to find, but a google search was all I needed to find the main site with the schedule on it. Plus, I made a new badge! Isn’t it cute??? :D  It’s like the owl is bringing my mail!

Mailbox Monday is where I show all the books I’ve gotten by various means throughout the week. Mailbox Monday was originally hosted by Marcia from A girl and her books and The Printed Page. This is a touring meme.  You can check out the main site for the full schedule.  April’s Host is Cindy’s Love of Books and May’s is Martha’s Bookshelf.  Since I LOVE book cover art on my kindle, I took my own pictures of the covers of my ebooks.

ebook cover for Hold Me Closer, Necromancer by Lish McBride
Hold Me Closer, Necromancer by Lish McBride, Bought from Amazon.

The Last Unicorn, Birthday gift from my dad.  It should be noted that I LOVED this movie while I was growing up.  I wouldn’t miss it when they had it on TV every Easter (or maybe it was every Thanksgiving…).  Everyone else in my family hated this movie, especially my dad.  I thought it was very thoughtful that he got it for me even if it was from the clearance bin.

Cuisinart FP-12DC Elite Collection 12-Cup Food Processor, Birthday gift from my husband.  I literally disintegrated my old one into little tiny pieces of plastic so Husband got me an indestructible one.

What did you get in your mailbox this week? Leave a link and I’ll come look!

Yay for Mailbox Monday newbies :) It feels more natural to post mailbox finds on Monday to me too. Happy Birthday- looks like your family knows you well to buy you books!

I’ve been meaning to read Hold Me Closer, Necromancer- I love humor in books. And Seraphina has gotten some great reviews too. I have the same edition of the Last Unicorn- well, it’s more my daughter’s.

    Happy reading, watching & cooking!

I SO wish I could hug you right now!!! The Last Unicorn is my favorite book, and certainly one of my favorite animated movies. You have GOOD TASTE, lady :-)

I’ve not heard of most of these books, but I _have_ heard wonderful things about Seraphina. I hope you enjoy it, as well as the rest of your lovelies.

I was also previously participating in IMM, but ultimately decided to do my own thing. Thus, Mission: Acquired begins! ;-)

I feel so bad as I have never read any of Lowry’s books and I know I should. I will get to see her in NYC at BEA and I am so excited. You had an awesome week and happy belated birthday

I loved The Last Unicorn, too, when I was a kid.  Have you ever read the book by Peter S. Beagle?  I always thought the red bull was so scary!

I did read the book.  I didn’t know the movie was based on the book until I was in high school but I love the book just as much as the movie. The red bull scared me too! :)

Ah, you just made my DAY with that link to MM’s page. :) Thank you! One of the reasons that I hardly ever participated in IMM, is because it was on Sunday. My schedule totally wanted it on Monday, too.

Anyway, great haul! Seraphina sounds so awesome! I love books with dragons, so I’ll have to check it out. Happy reading!
