My Google Diary for Hold Me Closer, Necromancer

Hold Me Closer, Necromancer

by Lish McBride
Format: select

When I read, I ask a LOT of questions.  Here’s some stuff I searched or wondered about while reading Hold Me Closer, Necromancer by Lish McBride.

From my review:

Hold Me Closer, Necromancer was like The Sixth Sense meets Paranormalcy. It’s creepy in a funny way. At first, I felt spine-tingling horror at this one scene but when I was telling my mom about it the next day I realized that it was actually kind of funny when I wasn’t reading late at night in the dark…Read more

The Setting

Bainbridge Island is one of the settings in Hold Me Closer, Necromancer by Lish McBride.  The book is mostly set in Seattle.

People

Keith Richards from The Rolling Stones is mentioned in the book as proof that the dead walk among us.  After seeing this picture, I now understand why…

Vigo the Carpathian is the villan in Ghostbusters II. He’s mentioned in the book as being a “cool” name for a villan.  I have to agree.  He’s like the Wizard of Oz gone bad 80’s style.

Pop Culture

Sam: ”Is that my Alkaline Trio T-shirt?” – page 104.

Alkaline Trio is a Real band. So cool especially where it fits in the plot :)

I love how a lot of these chapter titles are song titles. :)  Just for fun, I made a playlist on YouTube for all the songs that the chapters refer to.  I’ve been listening to all these as I link them and I have to say, Lish McBride has excellent taste in music. Seriously – I love all these songs :)

If the embedded YouTube playlist isn’t working, click here.

UPDATE: Thanks to a tweet from Lish, I was able to find the three songs I was missing from this post.  She already wrote the playlist one her blog LOL, but yay for work! I now I have the coolest YouTube playlist ever :)

Book Trailer

About Lish McBride

Lish McBride was raised by wolves in the Pacific Northwest. It rains a lot there, but she likes it anyway. She spent three years away while she got her MFA in fiction from the University of New Orleans, and she liked that too, although the hurricane did leave much of her stuff underwater. Her main goal in going to college was to become a writer so she could wear pajamas pretty much all the time. She enjoys reading, movies, comics, and preparing herself for the inevitable zombie apocalypse. Currently, Lish lives happily in Seattle where the weather never actually tries to kill you, with her family, two cats, and one very put-upon Chihuahua. She is slowly building her garden gnome army.
