I love trying to predict what is going to happen in a book. I thought it would be fun to have some of my blogger friends write down their theories for any book – from the realistic to the crazy – and see if they’re right when it comes out!
So, I have another great edition of Series Theories for you today. I’m so excited to have the lovely Gabi from Mato’s Blog! She’s picked Scarlet by Marissa Meyer.
**If you haven’t read Cinder, don’t read my theories about Scarlet. There are spoilers! You’ve been warned!**
I loved, loved, loved Marissa Meyer’s debut novel Cinder when I read it earlier this year. But we’ve got to wait until 2013 to read the next book, Scarlet, so in the meantime I’d like to present you with my thoughts on what’s going to happen . . .
- Kai is going to put two and two together and realize that Cinder is Princess Selene. And then we will have the most amazing oh shiitake mushroom moment when he realizes how close he had been to finding her – and now she’s gone. But he still thinks she might have used the Lunar magic-sciencey-thing on him, and she did lie about being cyborg, so I don’t expect any happy relationship resolutions yet.
- Scarlet is a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood, and I’m guessing Cinder and Scarlet are going to become friends. I’m looking forward to watching Cinder make buddies – she was so flustered around Kai, and she doesn’t have much practice making friends.
- Scarlet is going to have some sort of skill that will help Cinder overthrow Queen Levana. Or maybe this mysterious Wolf character might? Either way, I think Cinder’s going to begin building a fairy tale army.
- Cinder is going to find a new body for Iko. Iko was one of my favorite characters in the first book, and I was more distraught when she “died” then when Peony did. So I’m really hoping Iko is in Scarlet. Besides, can’t you just imagine how sweet Cinder and Iko’s reunion would be? Aw. I have warm fuzzy feelings just thinking about it.
Oh my heck, I loved Iko too! I can’t wait to see Kai kick himself when he realizes who Cinder was :) Awesome theories!
I asked Gabi to answer a few questions about herself and her blog.
Blogger Q & A
What is your favorite book?
There is no way I can name just one book, because then my other favorites will feel jipped. So I’ll give you a few: Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech, The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale, A Ring of Endless Light by Madeleine L’Engle, and Cinder by Marissa Meyer.
What is your favorite song?
This is even more difficult than the book question. If I had to pick a favorite song I’d go with The Voice, as sung by Lisa Kelly of Celtic Woman. I saw their concert A New Journey on a PBS special one night, and I’ve loved them ever since.

Where are you from and what do you love about living there?
I’ve lived in Idaho my entire life. I think it’s pretty great, but I’m probably a little bit biased. One of our favorite things to do in the summer is drive the riding lawn mower around the yard singing country songs at the top of our lungs – like “She thinks my tractor’s sexy!” or “I’m an international harvester!”
Tell us what makes your blog unique.
My bio section has a picture of my cat, Cali. How many other blogs can say they have a picture of a beautiful calico cat? I’d say that makes mine pretty darn unique.
Thanks so much Gabi for stopping by! As a Utahn and an almost next door neighbor, I agree that Idaho is pretty awesome *high fives.* And that song is gorgeous!

I can’t read the theories yet since Cinder is sitting on my shelf waiting to be read! I’ve had to renew it from the library even. I need to stop getting so many books at once that I can’t read them all.
Celtic Woman sing so beautifully.
