Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish with a different theme every week.
This is my first Top Ten Tuesday post and I’m really excited to be joining this meme!
Top Ten Books I’m Thankful For
10. The Farthest Away Mountain by Lynne Reid Banks
For teaching me to love fairy tales. I loved Indian in the Cupboard and it was a quest of mine to read EVERYTHING that Lynne Reid Banks wrote. This book was one of my favorites as a kid and the image of walking on a mountain through colored, enchanted snow is still so vivid in my head.
9. Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
For showing me I can read long books.
8. Tale of Two Cities by Chales Dickens
For teaching me to stick to it until the end because sometimes it’s worth it.
7. Star Wars: Courtship of Princess Leia by Dave Wolverton
When I was a teenager and I didn’t know what to read, I read every single Star Wars expanded universe book the library had. I’m thankful for reading them all because I became unbeatable at Star Wars Trivial Pursuit.
6. Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
For introducing me to the young adult genre.
5. Your First Hamster by Peter Smith
For showing me the power of knowledge. When my parents said I couldn’t have a hamster because I didn’t know how to take care of one, my ten year old self went “Pfft. It’s called BOOKS.” Through reading this book and some devious means involving my friends, I got that pet hamster against my parents wishes and it lived for 4 years (that’s like 200 in hamster years). My parents were thrilled.
4. Shiloh by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor
For being my first signed book ever. I won this signed book from a reading contest in fourth grade and I still have it. I was amazed that the author had touched it and now it was mine.
3. The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum
For teaching me to love series. I loved all 14 books as much as the first. L. Frank Baum is the BOMB.
2. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J. K. Rowling
For teaching me it’s okay to read “kid” books.
1. The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle
For just being awesome. And for showing me that a lot of the really good movies are based on books.
What books are you thankful for? Leave me a link if you did TTT this week :)

Oh my gosh, I read a TON of Star Wars novels in high school too! I’ve never played Star Wars Trivial Pursuit, but I bet I would be pretty awesome at it!

You probably would be! Thanks for stopping by :)

I haven’t read The Last Unicorn, but the movie was one of my favorites growing up. When that flaming bull appears…omg.
Jessica B says
Loves it! The book is just as good as the movie. You should check it out :)
Jenni Elyse says
Ha ha! I love your reasoning for the Star Wars books. I need to play you at Trivial Pursuit and see if I could beat you even with my limited book knowledge. I’m normally unbeatable myself.
Jessica B says
Ooooh! Challenge set :) Though it’s been a really long time since I watched anything Star Wars and I’m probably rusty.
Jenni Elyse says
It’s okay. I’m sure I’m a bit rusty too. Saturday and Sunday were the first time I’ve watched the movie(s) in years!
