My last blog design was a free WordPress theme with a header that I made myself (I know – you totally couldn’t tell, right???). I actually liked that header even if it was kind of busy. My biggest reason for getting a new design, though, was because my free theme was severely limited with what it could do. I couldn’t add drop down menus, rearrange my page navigation in any way, and it took some serious CSS to change anything and all I knew how to change was the colors of text and stuff. My old theme was actually made for photo-blogging and it just wasn’t functional anymore.
So over the next few weeks I’m going to tweak everything here to make it more functional and I’m so excited! It’s going to be my main project for Bloggiesta. I got the Streamline theme from Studiopress and it is super customizable even you you’re like me and don’t know a ton of CSS.
And not only do I get a new, more functional blog but it’s prettier now thanks to Ashley from BookNook (who also does design and PHP work from her Creative Whim website.). She did my header and my new button.
Grab my button code ^ :D
She’s seriously talented. I think she reads minds. When my husband saw my new header, he was like, “Wow. It’s very you.” She was easy to work with and if I knew anything about design at all, it’s exactly what I would have done.
Well, I’ve got to make a ton of food for my Star Wars Marathon Party tonight. I will be posting pictures! And if my family says anything remotely funny it’s going on Twitter.
Have a great Saturday everyone!
