TBR Pile: This Month
To keep my reading life interesting, I’m going to pick books from different categories this month. I’ve been going through my review archives and it makes me kind of depressed to see that I used to read a huge variety of books (memoirs, non-fiction, adult) and now I’m in YA overload. Here’s to variety! *clinks glass with internets*
For Review:
Taken comes out on the 16th of this month. I can’t believe I let this ARC get away from me! I’m going to read it this month, but it might be towards the end of the month after the release date. This gives me the sads that I let an ARC go to waste like that, but I don’t think I can read one more YA book right now….we’ll see how I feel.
Dusty Books:
East of Eden by John Steinbeck
This will probably be the next book I read. It’s long (YAY!), it’s not YA and it’s perfect for what I need right now. I miss long, adult fiction…. Tis the best. *sigh*
Life in the Pit by Kristen Landon
I picked this book because it goes with the theme read in the Dusty Bookshelf this month of Modern Reads. Plus I want to support my local author! It looks like a cute, fun read. I’m a music geek, so I’m looking forward to that as well :)
For Fun and Series to Finish:
Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare
If by some miracle I get through all those books (which is actually possible this month since I’m having surgery and might be in bed a lot), then I will reward myself with the double whammy of finishing a series AND reading for fun with Clockwork Princess. I’ve heard good things about it and I’m excited to read it.
TBR Pile: How I did Last Month
Bullies by Gary TaaffeDone! I’m going to write the review sometime this month. It was good. Not my favorite of the series, but still good. The False Prince by Jennifer A. NielsenDone! This book was divine and I flew right threw it. I even finished the next book, The Runaway King even though I hadn’t been planning on it.- Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson – still working on this one. I will probably finish it this weekend. I’m kind of struggling with it…..
- Bonus:
The Runaway King by Jennifer A. NielsenDone!

Awesome books! I’m planning on reading Taken in a few days! It looks so good! I can’t wait to see what you think. Clockwork Princess is so pretty. I really need to get reading that trilogy. Especially now that the cruel rests are over. Haha.
Eeep! I have been wanting to read The False Prince for so long! I’m so glad you loved it. I really need to get on that. As for Tiger Lily… *gags*…That one totally didn’t work for me. Sounds like it’s the same for you. I couldn’t even finish it. *sigh* Anyway. Can’t wait to see all the awesome reviews you’ll have coming up!!

Hannah – The False Prince!! You need to fix this :D It was amazing.
Tiger Lily – I’m pretty sure this book is about nothing. Neverland isn’t actually magical – it’s a literal place that is covered in dirt and messy. And these characters are boring. is there even a conflict in this book? And nothing in this world building is explained! Why DO some people get old and some don’t? What the heck?? Okay rant over. :D

RIGHT?! I SO AGREE WITH YOU!! [on Tiger Lily] Just Ick.
And yes. I will. I saw it at the Library the other day. I will get it once I tone down my TBR pile a little bit. :D

Taken has such a beautiful cover and I’ve heard good things about the Clockwork trilogy but haven’t read those yet either. Good luck with whittling down your TBR pile this month, I think it’s great you are picking books from your stash. I’d like to read East of Eden. The classics club blog is doing a sync read (kind of like a readalong) in June so I may read it then. and I’m excited to participate in the Dewey’s Read-a-thon for the first time this year. Yippee! Any advice for a newbie?

The classics club is doing a sync read? Maybe I’ll wait and read it then…Is the classics club like a blog or something? If you have a link, I’d love to look into it :)
With Dewey’s read-a-thon my best advice would be to do some of the challenges but not try to do all of them. It’s hard because they all look so fun! And, um…eat lots of food. :) That’s all the advice I’ve got! I hope I can do it this year. I might be doing tons of house projects that weekend….we’ll see. Hope you have fun with your first read-a-thon!

The good things you’ve heard about Clockwork Princess are true! Have tissues ready, though.

I seriously need to read my copy of Taken too. How did April sneak up so quickly??
There aren’t enough hearts to express my love of East of Eden. Love, love, LOVE it.
