Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme to highlight upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating, hosted by Breaking the Spine
Life After Theft by Aprilynne Pike
Release Date: April 30, 2013
Short, Sweet and Spoiler-Free Blurb:
Moving to a new high school sucks. Especially a rich-kid private school. With uniforms. But nothing is worse than finding out the first girl you meet is dead. And a klepto. Clash meets sass in this uproarious modern-day retelling of Baroness Orczy’s The Scarlet Pimpernel.
Why I’m waiting:
I loved Aprilynne Pike’s Wings series so I was jazzed that she is writing a new book that is a retelling of the Scarlet Pimpernel no less!! I love re-tellings and this will give me an excuse to finally go read The Scarlet Pimpernel (and maybe even watch the classic movie, too:) ) Bonus – it’s not a series. I love series, but I also love not having to remember a bunch of characters and story lines ofr a year until the next book comes out. I’m not a fan of this cover. It looks nice I guess, but I don’t think it really tells me what the story is about.
What books are you waiting for? Leave a link and I’ll come look!

This does sound good! I’d like to read The Scarlet Pimpernel too. Great pick! I haven’t read the wings series but have heard great things about it.

I’ve heard that this book is pretty awesome! It’s not something I would normally pick up (I agree with you about the cover) but after hearing all the good feedback I may have to add it to my TBR list. :)
Thanks for dropping by Read. Sleep. Repeat.

Hearing that this isn’t a series makes me want to add it to my TBR list immediately! I’m all for a good series, but they’re running wild lately; I could use a great standalone :D

I haven’t read anything by this author, nor The Scarlet Pimpernel but I’m still intrigued by this. The synopsis is vague enough that my interest is definitely piqued! I agree with what you said about the cover though – very lackluster.
