Waiting on Wednesday: Sky on Fire by Emmy Laybourne

April 24, 2013 By Jessica Filed Under: Waiting on Wednesday 6 Comments

Format: select

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme to highlight upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating, hosted by Breaking the Spine

Sky on Fire by Emmy Laybourne

Sky on Fire by Emmy Laybourne

Release Date: May 28, 2013

Series: Monument 14 #2

Short, Sweet and Spoiler-Free Blurb:

The world outside is dark and filled with dangerous chemicals. Left behind in a sanctuary that has already been disturbed once, the remaining kids try to rebuild the community they lost. But when the issues are life and death, love and hate, who can you really trust?

Why I’m waiting:

I thought it was amazing how well Emmy Laybourne was able to add laugh-out-loud funny moments to the first book in this series (Monument 14) even though the world is like ending in a fiery, terrifying death. The characters had rich personalities (which I’m sure comes from Emmy’s talent as an actress).  I must know what happens next to these kids!!

What books are you waiting for? Leave a link and I’ll come look!

I haven’t read the first book. I’m surprised that it has so much humor in it; I’ll have to check it out. Here’s my WoW

Cool, I still recall your review for book #1 and how much you liked it. I hope the sequel fares just as well as the original! That’s interesting that the author is an actress. I would also think that somehow relates to how she characterizes her characters if you say they are particularly well done. I really look forward to hearing what you think of this one, Jessica!

Hmmm…I’m on the fence about reading Monument 14. Its Goodreads rating is not great and a lot of books have already been written with the whole “trapped in a building” premise. But I could be convinced! :)
