It’s day 2 of the Once Upon a Read-a-Thon hosted by Candace at Candace’s Book Blog, Angela & Loretta at Reading Angels and Pure Imagination. It runs from 12:01 am on July 8th to 11:59 on July 10th. If you haven’t signed up, hurry and do so HERE. You will be entered into an awesome giveaway just for signing up!
Today, I did not eat any food while reading because I’m reading a real book now and food is not allowed around my real books. My kindle can just be wiped down when it gets greasy plus it stays open while I’m eating. Unlike my real books :) I still love my real books, they just aren’t always convenient. But they are so so pretty.
So today we headed to the park first thing in the morning after breakfast before it got blazing hot. It was 80 and windy so it still felt nice. I read Siege and Storm while my kids climbed the monkey bars. Sorry about the bad picture. I honestly couldn’t see a darn thing on my iPod.
After that we went to the library. And by lucky chance we got there right before story time. I didn’t plan that, but it was awesome.
They put on a fun show. I might have to go more often so my kids will actually join the group instead of staying as far away as possible.
This is our library haul. Look we found more Mo Willems books! I’m so glad he wrote a million books. My kids will be sad when the day comes that they’ve read them all. Actually maybe not – they have read all his books so far at least 50 times. They are funny every time they read them. And you’ll notice that we got two copies of What’s Your Sound, Hound the Hound? because sometimes they don’t like sharing.
Then we came home and I did some dishes and laundry while the boys played retro Super Mario 3. My 6 yo loves that game. I just get a smile on my face every time I think how awesome that is. He’s figured out tons of secrets and even how to fly. He’s good.
Then we built a fort in their room. They brought tons of books in there and I may or may not have fallen asleep. I really need my reading glasses back because I get a searing headache every time I read for longer than 30 minutes. And the headaches make me tired.
Books the boys read (most of them were read about 5 times):
- Elephants Cannot Dance by Mo Willems
- I Brok My Trunk! by Mo Willems
- My Friend is Sad by Mo Willems
- What’s Your Sound, Hound the Hound? by Mo Willems
- Nutty Knock Knocks
- Wilson and the Ice Cream Fair
- Dolphins (finished from yesterday)
- Safari: National Geographic
If you add up all the times they read and then re-read books, I think we read for about 1 1/2 hours together.
My stats:
- Pages read: 94
- Time read: 1 1/2 hours
I will read some more tonight and put it in my stats tomorrow. I really hope I can finish Siege and Storm tomorrow! If I do, I will start Princess Academy by Shannon Hale.

Way to go! I still think it’s amazing that your sons love reading, it’s not something I see very often in the kids I know. I hope you get to finish Siege and Storm!
