I found this survey today on The Perpetual Page-Turner. It looks really fun!
I want to do more creative posts! She has such good ideas. I’m noticing that she just takes things from her life about reading and shares them. I’m going to make it a goal to do that on my blog, too. My posts aren’t going to be the same as hers but there are a few that have been marinating in my head that I’d like to finally get to!
[dropcap style=”2″ size=”2″]A[/dropcap]uthor you’ve read the most books from:
David Eddings. LOL I was addicted to his books in middle school. They were very epic.
[dropcap style=”2″ size=”2″]B[/dropcap]est Sequel Ever:
Insurgent by Veronica Roth! It’s one of the only cases I can think of where I liked the sequel better than the first book.
[dropcap style=”2″ size=”2″]C[/dropcap]urrently Reading:
After Hello by Lisa Mangum. It might very well be my first contemporary romance (or at least the first newish contemporary romance). I love the writing and the relationship of the two characters, but I find myself wanting the plot to move along.
[dropcap style=”2″ size=”2″]D[/dropcap]rink of Choice While Reading:
I’m gonna be honest here – I don’t drink anything besides water. I don’t like soda, I hardly every buy juice and I’m not a coffee or tea person. And Gatorade gives me heartburn.
[dropcap style=”2″ size=”2″]E[/dropcap]-reader or Physical Book?
E-reader! I do most of my reading in bed and it’s so annoying to hold open my book and position the book light…plus the kindle helps me keep track of who is who in the book (via a search) because I really suck at doing that.
[dropcap style=”2″ size=”2″]F[/dropcap]ictional Character You Probably Would Have Actually Dated In High School:
Trevor from Pivot Point. The cute artsy type – yes please!!
[dropcap style=”2″ size=”2″]G[/dropcap]lad You Gave This Book A Chance:
A Tale of Two Cities. This is one of the few books I can think of that I slogged through, but was blown away by the ending. It’s because of books like this that I can’t quit on a book!
[dropcap style=”2″ size=”2″]H[/dropcap]idden Gem Book:
Hold Me Closer, Necromancer by Lish McBride. It’s a horror that I actually liked!
[dropcap style=”2″ size=”2″]I[/dropcap]mportant Moment in your Reading Life:
When I discovered the Elephant and Piggie books by Mo Willems for my kids. Watching their delight and their love for reading grow was just plain awesome.
[dropcap style=”2″ size=”2″]J[/dropcap]ust Finished:
The Chaos of the Stars by Kiersten White
[dropcap style=”2″ size=”2″]K[/dropcap]inds of Books You Won’t Read:
Horror and erotica. But as I said before there are rare exceptions to my no-horror rule. Erotica I will never ever read.
[dropcap style=”2″ size=”2″]L[/dropcap]ongest Book You’ve Read:
Oooh I love long books! *looks up on Goodreads* Les Miserables (unabridged) by Victor Hugo. 1463 pages.
[dropcap style=”2″ size=”2″]M[/dropcap]ajor book hangover because of:
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern.
[dropcap style=”2″ size=”2″]N[/dropcap]umber of Bookcases You Own:
One large, double-sized bookcase.
[dropcap style=”2″ size=”2″]O[/dropcap]ne Book You Have Read Multiple Times:
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. I’ve read it 3 times. Usually re-reading a favorite book once is my max. Three is a lot for me!
[dropcap style=”2″ size=”2″]P[/dropcap]referred Place To Read:
In bed is where I read the most. But when I get a yard I’d love to read outside too! I read whenever we go camping in the mountains.
[dropcap style=”2″ size=”2″]Q[/dropcap]uote that inspires you/gives you all the feels from a book you’ve read:
“A GUIDED TOUR OF SUFFERING: To your left, perhaps your right, perhaps even straight ahead, you find a small black room. In it sits a Jew. He is scum. He is starving. He is afraid. Please – try not to look away.”
― Markus Zusak, The Book Thief
[dropcap style=”2″ size=”2″]R[/dropcap]eading Regret:
Not reading more required reading books in school. I can’t remember if it’s because they were never assigned by my teachers or if I just didn’t read them. But SO many books I missed out on! Lord of the Flies, To Kill a Mockingbird, 1984, The Great Gatsby, The Diary of Anne Frank and so many more.
[dropcap style=”2″ size=”2″]S[/dropcap]eries You Started And Need To Finish(all books are out in series):
The Giver Quartet. I’ve read the first two and I already own the last two. And two of them are signed! Hopefully Lois Lowry doesn’t change her mind and add another book to the series before I finish it. (LOL she probably won’t, but still.)
[dropcap style=”2″ size=”2″]T[/dropcap]hree of your All-Time Favorite Books:
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Twilight, and To Kill a Mockingbird.
[dropcap style=”2″ size=”2″]U[/dropcap]napologetic Fangirl For:
Downton Abbey. The time period, the costumes, the characters, the actors, the Drama. I loves it all!
[dropcap style=”2″ size=”2″]V[/dropcap]ery Excited For This Release More Than All The Others:
Allegiant!! I want to see what’s beyond the fence!!
[dropcap style=”2″ size=”2″]W[/dropcap]orst Bookish Habit:
I have two and you can decide which is worse – I buy books and then don’t read them for years. I buy books in whatever format is most convenient at the time so none of my series match. I’ll have a any combination of a paperback, an ebook and a hardcover for a given series. Which do you think is worse?
[dropcap style=”2″ size=”2″]X[/dropcap]Marks The Spot: Start at the top left of your shelf and pick the 27th book:
Everbound by Brodi Ashton
[dropcap style=”2″ size=”2″]Y[/dropcap]our latest book purchase:
As of two seconds ago, The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate. It was on sale for $3.99 and I’ve wanted to read it for a while. Look at the pretty cover and the shiny medal!! I’ve heard good things about it, too.
[dropcap style=”2″ size=”2″]Z[/dropcap]ZZ-snatcher book (last book that kept you up WAY late):
Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo.
If you do this survey, leave me a link! I want to see your answers, too :)

I am so glad to see To Kill A Mocking Bird on your top three list! I am sure this list changes periodically, but that book is really good! I just re-read it a few months ago and loved it again. I am trying to read or re-read some of the classics again. I’m not making any grand declaration or anything, but I am trying to appreciate some of the books I read or partly read in high school. This was a fun, non-traditional book quiz!
Jessica says
Oh I get chills just thinking about the ending. Not many books do that for me! It’s fun to read those classics from high school. Sometimes I’m glad that I haven’t read them yet because I really appreciate them as an adult.
Lauren @ Books, Tea & Me says
Ahhhhh… the second habit is by far the worst! I actually cringed when I read that, haha. I super picky about my series. If the first book is in paperback, I will wait till the other books in the series are paperbacks to get them. Same if it’s hardcover. I hate mismatched books. And it annoys me to no end when the books get a redesign halfway through a series. It almost makes me cry.
But 1463 pages. That right there is why I’m SO nervous to start reading Les Miserables, no matter how good it may be. It’s SO LONG!
Jessica says
I bet your bookshelves look prettier than mine with all your matching books. Send the old designs of cover redesigns my way! I’ll collect them and trade you for the new ones ;)
It took me like a year to get through Les Mis. I had to take long breaks from it and used Sparknotes to help me remember what was going on. You should give it a try!
Kimberly @ On the Wings of Books says
Love Downton Abbey!
Just thinking about all your mismatching covers for series makes me cringe! I am fanatical about having everything match ;)
Jessica says
Yay! I love finding Downton Abbey fans :) Sorry to make you cringe lol. I guess I’m just lazy :)

Great survey!! I like reading into bloggers traits and personality- it helps to get to know them better!!
Kathryn @ Clean Teen Fiction says
I love eReaders too because of night reading. But I still love books and totally hoard them.
Before blogging I was a major book re-reader. Now I have too many to read to go back and re-read. I read Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine and Emily and the Scot by Kathryn Smith countless times.
Angelica @ Paperback Princess says
I’m a new follower Jessica :)
I’ve had Insurgent on my shelf for ages but I must re-read Divergent before reading Insurgent, it’s just something I do with series LOL.
OMG your the first person I’ve seen, thus far, that have chosen E-reader over physical, I quite like my Nook now, and I’d be really conflicted if I was to give it up for physical copies now that I’ve gotten used to it.
The Night Circus and The Book Thief are two of my all time favourite books.
I buy books too and don’t read them for years too, so don’t worry, I think that the buying different formats for series is the worse one, but I’m slightly OCD with series’ I like box sets and I like my series to be all the same sizes and same book cover themes etc LOL so to me, the latter is worse.
My A-Z Survey

I liked reading your answers to the survey! I like your quote- The Book Thief is a favorite of mine too. I keep telling everyone I know to read it.
You inspired me to complete the survey myself:

I’d never even heard of David Eddings but it looks like I need to check out his books! We are also big fans of Mo Willems around here. He really seems to get kid humor (in a non-gross kind of way) and even though my daughter can’t quite read yet, she can easily memorize those stories and read them to me. We love them!
I loved this survey and reading your answers! I agree with you. I find it hard to step outside my standard posts and come up with ideas that are fun and different. I hope to expand a bit more in this upcoming year.
Aylee says
Aaah, Les Miserables is INSANELY long!! Good for you! And you know, I honestly couldn’t say which of those book habits are worse. I’m unfortunately guilty of both, as well. I would say the mismatching series is more of an annoyance and the unread books make me feel more shameful though. Loove this survey!! Thanks for sharing.
