My Fall TV Show Lineup

September 24, 2013 By Jessica Filed Under: My Reading Diary 9 Comments

New

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D

This is the only new show that I’m picking up this fall. I’m very picky about my shows because I don’t have much time to watch TV. So the show can’t just be “good”. It has to be something to completely fan girl about. And this show looks fan girl worthy to me.  I love the “Not all heroes are super” tagline.  The premise of looking for heroes and not all of them being good has so much potential for awesome story lines and conflict.  And I’m a very big fan of the family friendly TV-PG rating (at least that’s the rating for the pilot).  I don’t think there’s anything like this on TV and it looks so epic.  And Joss Whedon! Hello! I’m so excited to watch it.

Season Premiere is today (Tuesday) at 8/7C on ABC

Returning Goodies

Once Upon a Time

Once Upon a Time Season 3Season 3 starts this fall.  I love the characters in this show (Mr. Gold you are the best).  I love the twists on fairy tales and the flipping between modern and fairy tale settings.  And there’s romance! And princes/princesses to the rescue! And swashbuckling sword fights! Catch up on Netflix if you haven’t seen it right this second.  You’re missing out on an awesome show.  Oh and the creators of this show also made a really cool TV show called “Lost.”

Season Premiere is on Sunday, September 29 at 8/7C on ABC

There is also a spin-off of this series called Once Upon a Time in Wonderland that I will be checking out as well.  We’ll see if it’s fangirl worthy .;)

The Big Bang Theory

Big Bang Theory Season 7

Big Bang Theory is in Season 7 and it’s one of the funniest shows on TV.  It shows how cool nerds are (because really nerds have always been cool there just hasn’t been a show to showcase that yet).  And Sheldon is the funniest and most lovable anti-social person you will ever meet. :)

Season Premiere is on Thursday, September 26 at 8/7C on CBS

Downton Abbey

Downton Abbey Series 4This show doesn’t start until January in the US, but I’m still mega excited to see it.  If you are so lucky as to call the lovely UK your home, you get to watch it starting this September. I’m not bitter.  Anyway.  Downton Abbey is a fabulous period drama set in the 1920’s era about a British aristocrat family and their servants.  The characters are absolutely fascinating and I love watching how the family and the servants interact.  And this is Drama.  You have not seen drama until you see this show.

Season Premiere is January 5, 2014 on PBS

Do any of you watch these shows? What shows are you watching this fall? Did I miss any good ones?

I’m so excited for Once Upon a Time as well. I can’t wait to find out more about Peter Pan! Are you interested in the spin off show? It is about Wonderland. I just saw the pilot of Blacklist, and that was intense!! I don’t know what to think of The Agents of SHIELD. We’ll see. I am also looking forward to Parenthood. SO MANY SHOWS TO WATCH!!

Yeah I’m going to check out OUAT Wonderland (but man is that a long title lol). What’s Blacklist? That sounds cool. I think Agents of SHIELD will be awesome – but they’ve got to do it right. If it loses heart and becomes all about super powers and effects I’m turning it off. I can’t believe how many good shows there are this fall!

I’ve gotten more picky lately with shows too, so I’ve dropped some shows that I used to watch because they’ve just gotten old and/or I don’t love them anymore. But I still watch quite a few. I’m excited about Once Upon a Time (and the spin-off) and also Revenge, The Good Wife, and Homeland. I also watch Big Bang Theory, love that show! Vampire Diaries is a favorite and I’ll be trying the spin-off too. There’s a few on CW that I’m going to try, such as The Tomorrow People, Starcrossed (mid-season), and The 100 (mid-season). And then The New Girl and The Mindy Project. Ok, there’s too many shows (and I haven’t even mentioned all of them). Downtown Abbey…that ending!!

Oh I forgot about the 100! I might join mid-season too to see how its going.
And the ending of Downton Abbey!!! I can’t even….. I’m really excited to see where it goes this season. I hope we can have a semi-happy ending or I’m going to be traumatized for life lol.

Jessica, you should watch Parks & Rec. The first 2 seasons are kind of bad, but it pretty much wins the “most improved” award in the history of television (probably). Definitely my favorite comedy. It’s sweet, it’s sharp, it’s funny, and Amy Poehler is phenomenal.

And dually, I cannot wait for Downton. Why must they torture us this way?!

We’re going to watch Agents of SHIELD too. We DVRd the first episode but haven’t had a chance to watch it yet. I’m excited to see what it’ll bring. I’m sad we missed the first two episodes of Sleepy Hollow. I want to possibly watch that, but I feel too bogged down right now to add too many new shows to my line up, lol.

I watched Agents of SHIELD and so far I love it. I have my theories about Colson, well I had my theories about him and now I feel even more positive about them.
I have to catch up on Once because I fell behind last season. I started watching Fangasm as well, since I watch Face Off (Syfy) on Tuesdays as well and it’s the same channel. I really like it so far, it’s awesome to see other geeks in the spotlight.
