Dusty Bookshelf 2013 Wrap-up + GIVEAWAY

December 23, 2013 By Jessica Filed Under: Giveaways, Reading Challenge 20 Comments

The Dusty Bookshelf 2013 Reading ChallengeHey everyone! I’m wrapping up the Dusty Bookshelf challenge for this year.  How did you all do?  I’m really excited that I finished my goal of 10 books! I think that’s the most I’ve ever done for this challenge.

As much as I love this challenge, I’m sadly going to have to retire it here on my blog.  I think this is the kind of challenge that works better as a Goodreads group which I will still keep open.  You can join the Dusty Bookshelf Goodreads Group if you’d like or if you want a similar challenge that’s run on a blog, you can check out Bookish’s TBR Pile Challenge.

But I didn’t want to just abandon this challenge.  If you finished your goal, you can link your blog in the linky below and feel free to grab the completed banner!

Giveaway

Win a book of your choice for $25 or less at the Book Depository.  Open Internationally.

There are lots of options to enter the giveaway so if you didn’t finish, no worries! There are still options for you.  If you just signed up for this challenge you can enter! If you want to go join the Goodreads group right now you can enter as well.  There are extra entries for how many books you did review and if you finished your challenge.  Good luck! And thank you all so much for supporting my little reading challenge last year.  It’s been a dream of mine to host a reading challenge and I had so much fun with all of you!!!

So far, I have read 16 cobweb books, but I hope to have in around 20 by the end of the year!

Jessica, thanks for starting the Dusty Bookshelf on Goodreads! It is a lot of fun, with the monthly themes. I started the year with seven books on my dusty shelf challenge, but as the year goes on, I add whatever additional dusty books I get around to reading, and so the number went from 7 to 27! Thanks for helping me put a dent in that TBR list!

First I just wanted to say thanks for hosting this challenge! It was really fun to participate in and definitely motived me to read the books that had been sitting on my shelf for a long time. I finished the challenge, I read 32 books so I’m really happy about that. Thanks again for hosting!

Great job meeting your goal!! I’m so terrible about even making goals because I tend to not meet the goals and that depresses me. ;)

I’m sitting at 46 for the year and, possibly, two more before the end of the year.

Such a good idea for a challenge. 20 of them read this year. I’ll try for 25 next year.

Thanks for giving those of us a chance who sucked at the challenge a chance to enter the giveaway still. :) You rock! And, while I didn’t do very well, I still had a ton of fun. :)

I guess technically I still “completed” it because I signed up to read 0-5 books and I read two. But, I’m still not counting it because I really wanted to read all 5.

I am happy to say 10 books are done and read but not happy about reaching my goal of 15. (I really wanted that completed badge) I kind forgot about the challenge for some reason around May/June. Then I had to play caught up at the last minute. Oops! So here is my game plan for next year. Read one Dusty Book a month. Just one and I will hit 12 at the end of the year. For some reason that seems do-able.
Congrats on hitting your goal of 10! Whoot! Whoot!

I read 11, which was within my goal…but I kind of realized the reason I haven’t read those dusty books – there are just other books I want to read more! LOL

Jessica, first off thank you for leaving your link button a decent length of time! There are some like me who join an abundance of 40 challenges. I made it to 100 books! Living rurally; stuck with telephone-dialing internet, the amount of them that span Jan-Dec is too many and I’m beat. I can’t bear to type in any more reviews, button by button; waiting for the page to refresh, and starting over 100 times. Since the wonderful prize opportunity has to do with review quantity, I’m going to update my blog post for our challenge, linked in #2. You can see the 100 review URLS on there, which I don’t doubt is completely fine with you. :)

I’d rather do the challenge by blog but respect your decision. Guess what? I’m débuting as a hostess Feb 1/14 – Feb 28/15! I invite all of you to my trio of brand new themes: “Ethereal”, “Gentle Spectrums”, and “My Kind Of Mystery”. They’re all super flexible, like yours. God bless you in 2014 and always! Carolyn.

Aha, I see a “rafflecopter”. It doesn’t always show up for a dial-up connection. So unless you tell me otherwise, I may have to type up and away. Well, I’ll have a look and see how it goes. A book prize is worth it!
    Hugs, Carolyn.

I’ve not had a lot of physical copies as of the past year but I’ve managed to read off a big chunk of my ebooks! It was fun! I should probably get back to studying now huh

    Dear Jessica,
I was thrilled to win your contest. I savoured commenting further until I could jump up & down about receiving my choice of prizes, as soon as I knew you would permit the whole $25.00 in multiple selections. Recently, I was pleased to learn that you did and… guess what I got 5 minutes ago? That’s right, my Juliet Blackwell and Heather Blake novels are here!!!! Thank you so much!!! God bless you for helping a girl with so much of her list, NEW merchandise at that.

Once we’re done with my fiancé’s birthday festivities, I will treat myself to an entirely witch and ghost week! Why hold off and clean up older stuff, since I’ve been so well-behaved about that a good portion of this year? I’m going to run away with the new stuff and love every minute of it! They all qualify for my “Ethereal” group. :) xoxo, Carolyn!
