What: LeVar Burton wants to bring back Reading Rainbow for today’s generation of kids by launching it on the web, mobile devices, android and a special web edition for classrooms. Part of his campaign is to give it to 7500 classrooms in need for free. They raised their initial goal of $1 million in 11 hours instead of the 35 days they thought it would take. They are now at $3.3 million with over 70,000+ people who’ve donated. They need to reach $5 million to get it on more devices than just the web. So if you are or were a fan of Reading Rainbow, you should go donate! Anything helps.

What: This year’s Summer Library Program is called “Fizz, Boom, Read!” and the annual Kickoff Party will start things off with fun and entertainment. There will be free live music, entertainers, activities, exhibitors, a giant inflatable playground, train ride and crafts for the kids.
