Reading Queue is a monthly meme where you share what books you plan to read for the month. You can hop to other blogs and see what others are reading and maybe find someone reading the same thing as you! Or you can ask for people to vote on what you should read next if you can’t decide. Reading Queue is hosted by Book Tasty and Books: A true story.
To Read
Heaven is Here by Stephanie Nielson. This is April’s book club pick for my local book club. It’s about a famous Mormon blogger who wrote about her blissful life until she was in a horrific plane crash that left most of her body burned. It’s her memoir about her life before and after. The thing that most people talk about is how honest she was during that difficult time and how she still tried to find the best in life.
Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas. I’m excited to finally read this epic fantasy that everyone is talking about! It has a map and a character pronunciation guide. Be still my heart.
How I Did Last Month
FINISHED – Splintered by A. G. Howard – Hey the nice thing about having one book on your to-read list is that you will most likely finish it! I sadly didn’t love this one. It looked like the perfect retelling of one of my favorite stories, Alice in Wonderland. I’m not sure why, but I really didn’t connect with the story. It had my attention for the first 25% but then we went into some major info-dumping and it just couldn’t keep my interest in the same way after that. The plot slowed way down and then it started getting very complicated. I like twisty plots but this one was almost too twisty. I’m sad I didn’t like this one more.

Ooh SUPER curious to hear what you think of Celaena! Seems like people either love her or hate her… and hopefully if you do dislike her at first, then you’ll come to love her later (or before, in the prequel novellas which are excellent as well!).
Splintered – ditto. That one was a disappointment for me as well.

Oh so glad I’m not the only one that didn’t like Splintered. So many people told me that I would love it and I felt kind of bad when I didn’t.

Dang! I’m sad to hear you didn’t like Splintered. I haven’t read it yet but I’m hoping to get to it soon and enjoy it. I can’t wait to read Throne of Glass. I’ve heard good things.

Maybe I will like Splintered since I didn’t like Alice in Wonderland, lol. I’m sorry you didn’t like it. :-/

I have a copy of Throne of Glass around here somewhere. Not sure where but I know it’s been on my TBR pile for a long time. Hope you enjoy it!

I hope you enjoy Throne of Glass! Celaena is awesome! But I think Chaol is my favorite character from the series. I hope Heaven Is Here is good. I read some of her blog a while ago and she really does seem incredible. I’m sorry you didn’t like Splintered more. I haven’t read it yet but I keep looking at it like I should. Maybe someday…
Michelle @ Much Loved Books says
Oh no, you didn’t enjoy Splintered, that’s a shame. I think I really enjoyed it as I avoid anything to do with Alice in Wonderland (kids can be cruel when they know your middle name) so books that are opposite to AiWI really enjoy.
I really hope you enjoy Throne of Glass though.
I also just notice that I used ‘really’ and ‘enjoy’ an awful lot ;)
