I’m really sad that I didn’t get time to post this in January….so just pretend like it’s still January, k? Thanks :D
Reading
- Read 50 books
- Read 3 formats a time – ebook, physical, and audio. This usually means I am reading at least two different books at a time. I usually have a physical and an audiobook that are the same and a different ebook. But I try to get each book I read in as many formats as I can from my library so I don’t have to buy more than one copy of the books I own.
- Get a TBR cart
- Don’t buy any more books until all the books I haven’t read yet fit into one TBR cart. The exceptions to this rule are Star Wars books which I collect and books for book club that can be hard to get at the library. It also doesn’t include all my book subscription boxes. If I stick to my book buying ban until the end of the year, all my books should fit.
Spiritual
- Read the Come Follow Me manual every Sunday
- Invite people over for dinner and a lesson on Sundays
- Have a pin incentive for the kids to do scripture study
- Finish reading the Book of Mormon
Health
- Walk and listen to an audiobook
- Make a monthly health chart with prizes. I tweaked my point system a little. I used to get one point a day if I ate 1500 calories or less. But that turned into a game of “How much junk can I eat in 1500 calories or less?” It left me hungry and cranky and I went over that calorie goal often anyway. Now I get a point if I eat less than 45 grams of sugar total in a day and/or if I eat 5 servings of fruits and veggies. And oddly enough, when I hit both those goals it’s usually really close to my calorie goal anyway. Having a calorie goal and making myself hungry was not showing love to myself and I like this new point system much better. I feel like it focuses on proactive things to do instead of deprivation and on eating a healthy diet instead of a restricted one. I probably won’t lose much weight doing this but that’s ok. I’ll just buy bigger jeans and go on my happy way.
- Keep a daily food diary. I tend to skip days when I go out to eat or eat at someone else’s house, but those are the days I need my diary the most to help pinpoint what caused symptoms since I get sick more often in those situations.
- Make a sugar tracker in my bullet journal. I’m already doing this and I’ve learned so much about how much added sugar is in the stuff I eat.
Blog
- Blog 30 hours a month. I made a chart and there’s a prize if I hit that goal. It’s helped me get back into the habit because I’m focusing on progress and not on achievements like writing a certain number of posts.
The Year of Camping
- Buy quality camping gear. I love camping. My husband doesn’t. We are trying to get out of debt while still going on vacations so we decided to compromise and get really good camping gear to make camping more fun. We want a canvas tent with a heater, cots, mattress pads, warm sleeping bags, cute outdoor clothes, portable toilet, outdoor shower, and good cooking gear. We want to go glamping on our own basically. We are going for the comfort of an RV without the price and maintenance of an RV.
- Camping bucket list this year: Redwood Forest, Dinosaur National Park, Canada, and Great Basin National Park to watch a meteor shower.
- Christmas at Disneyland (Especially Star Wars Land). Not really camping. More of a travel goal. But we want to travel a lot this year but in an affordable way. Disneyland isn’t exactly affordable but we will do that instead of presents which helps a lot with the price.
Personal
- Organize pantry
- Food storage in basement
- Finish old journal
- Finish hand lettering book
- Do chores on Friday nights
- Organize basement

On New Year’s Day, I made a collage in my bullet journal with old magazines about my resolutions. My family joined too. It was a lot of fun!
