Top Ten Tuesday (18): 2014 Debuts I’m Excited For

January 14, 2014 By Jessica Filed Under: Top Ten Tuesday 7 Comments

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish with a different theme every week.

Here are the top ten Young Adult and Middle Grade debut novels that I’m looking forward too.  They are mostly fantasy since that’s what I like to read.

  • Alienated (Alienated #1) by Melissa Landers – Could be summed up as “When Aliens come to my high school.” This one looks like it could be cool.
  • The Ninja Librarians by Jennifer Swann Downey – I will read any book with a title as awesome as that.
  • Stolen Songbird (The Malediction Trilogy #1) by Danielle L. Jensen – I can’t say no to a high fantasy like this will trolls and curses.
  • The Copper Hand by Julia Gibson – If I had to pick a number one book I’m looking forward to, this would be it.  I have a soft spot for Native American culture.
  • Midnight Thief (Midnight Thief #1) by Livia Blackburne – Another high fantasy that looks awesome.  This one has knights.
  • Sing Sweet Nightingale (The Dream War Saga #1) by Erica Cameron – Besides making that awful song that the evil step-sisters sing on Cinderella get stuck in my head from that title, it looks like a cool paranormal book about living in your dreams. (Is it stuck in your head now too? Siiiing sweeeeeeet nightingale. Ahhh ahhhhh ahhhh ahhh ARGGHHHHH)
  • Gilded by Christina L. Farley – the plot seems a little cliche, but I really like the Korean fantasy and culture that is in this story.  I think it could be really good.
  • The Islands at the End of the World by Austin Aslan –  This is a sci-fi, post-apocalyptic/dystopian story set in Hawaii.  Yep. Can’t get more awesome than that.
  • A Mad, Wicked Folly by Sharon Biggs Waller – This one might be over hyped because it’s being compared to Downton Abbey, but I’m still interested in reading it because Downton Abbey.
  • Dreamwood by Heather Mackey – This looks like a fun middle grade fantasy adventure in a Pacific Northwestern forest.

What books were on your top ten list this week? Leave a link and I’ll come look!
