May Reading Queue

May 1, 2015 By Jessica Filed Under: Reading Queue 7 Comments

Reading Queue is a monthly meme where you share what books you plan to read for the month.  You can hop to other blogs and see what others are reading and maybe find someone reading the same thing as you! Or you can ask for people to vote on what you should read next if you can’t decide.  Reading Queue is hosted by Book Tasty and Books:  A true story.

To Read

The Eternity Key by Bree Despain.  I’m excited to read this ARC! It just came out and it’s been getting great reviews from my friends.

Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand.  Everyone has read this and loved it and I feel left out.  Time to change that.

What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty. This is the second book we are reading this month for book club.  I can usually only read two books a month so trying to squeeze this one in is going to be ambitious – especially before the book club in 3 weeks!  I hope I can get to it.  I really liked Big Little Lies by her.

How I Did Last Month

FINISHED Heaven is Here by Stephanie Nielson.  It was good.  We had a great book club discussion about it.  Surprisingly, her emotional trials of mending her family relationships got me more than her physical trials did.

FINISHED Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas. Loved it.  That was one tangled love triangle, but I really liked it.  It wraps up really well but it had enough seeds planted that I’m really interested in how the world is going to expand.  The main character is what makes this book and I really liked her.

BONUS Big Little Lies by Lianne Moriarty.  I finished this one in two days.  It was so addicting.  The gossip. The mystery.  The characters.  The humor.  I couldn’t put it down.  I saw a Goodread user describe it as “Probably the funniest book about murder and domestic abuse I’ll ever read.”  That about sums it up.  This one was a lot of fun.

Unbroken is a phenomenal read! I just read it last week – I was scared honestly. Nonfiction has a tendency to feel textbook-y to me, but Hillenbrand brought this story to life so beautifully. Love it so much I wish I could afford to buy a copy for everyone I know and force them to read it. Can’t wait to hear what you think – no pressure, lol.

Big Little Lies is on my tbr-this-year list and I’ve had Throne of Glass waiting around on my shelves entirely too long. Thanks for getting me excited about both again!

I’m glad your April books were so good! Celaena is my favorite part of the Throne of Glass series as well! And Chaol. :-) I’m so glad you liked it!

I really liked Unbroken. It’s one of the best biographies I’ve read. I’m hoping to read Big Little Lies soon!

I’ve heard so many good things about Bree’s books, I really need to add these to my ever growing wish list :) I’m so glad you enjoyed Throne of Glass.

Big Little Lies is on my TBR list as well as a few others. I liked The Husband Secret and now I think once I get through the pile I have I might read that one. Great list!!
