Utah Book Month: Debz Bookshelf

August 10, 2012 By Jessica Filed Under: Events 8 Comments

As part of Utah Book Month, I got to interview the awesome Debz from Debz Bookshelf!

Hi Debz! Thanks for stopping by. Tell us a little about yourself and your blog.

I’m Debz, a teenager who suffers from an extreme obsession of fairy tales and all things book related. I was born in Utah, and have had the chance to live all around the world since then, and hope to go back there again sometime soon. Debz Bookshelf has been around since April of 2011, and focuses on YA and MG speculative fiction.

Why did you get into blogging?

I started my blog Debz Bookshelf after my personal blog was getting too cluttered with bookish thoughts. I knew nothing of book blogging besides that which I’d seen from another Utah Blogger, Enna Isilee, so I just kind of stalked her for the first 6 months or so to see how it’s done.

Since its Utah book month, what is your favorite thing about Utah?

The history and the food! I really love history, and I have a lot of family history in Utah, which makes it that much cooler. And I can never pass up a bowl of green Jell-O (especially with pineapple!)

What is the most random thing you’ve ever googled?

I actually don’t google that many weird things. But sometimes I’ll google popular search keywords that lead to my blog, and the most popular ones are double-amputee and crazy bookshelves.

What is your favorite song and movie?

On My Own from Les Miserables and The Princess Bride.

What is your favorite book by an author from Utah?

Unfair question! Princess Academy, The False Prince, Entwined, Sun and Moon Ice and Snow, Matched, and many, many more are among my absolute favorites!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Be sure to check out her blog :)

Great interview!  I am new to Debz Bookshelf, but I’ve been enjoying it.  It was nice to get to know her better.

Now I have On My Own stuck in my head. Lol. Awesome interview! I like to Google search terms that lead to my blog, too. It’s strange, but I really like to know what the competition was on the search page (and how many pages in my link was), and what made them click.

Great interview!  I started blogging for exactly the same reason.  I just have too much to say about books.  :)

I can support Debz answer of green Jell-o with pineapple. But, I wouldn’t be able to support her if she said it had carrots! It’s one of my family’s favorite dishes and I just don’t get it! I love green Jell-o, but I usually like it plain.

    Fun interview! :)

Oh, I hate Jello with carrots! Eww! My grandma does it was carrots sometime though. And we occasionally add cottage cheese with the pineapple. As gross as that sounds, it’s pretty good!

Haha I actually have quite a few friends from Utah and they all love jell-o with pineapple! I guess it really is popular over there! Great interview and answers! Love the question about random googling. I think I once googled what human flesh tastes like after watching Hannibal. That’s probably my randomest! :)
