When I read, I ask a LOT of questions. Here’s some stuff I searched or wondered about while reading Transparent by Natalie Whipple.

From my review:

The first thing I noticed about Transparent was that it had a nice voice to it.  I loved the main character Fiona’s honesty and dry humor about how she was born.  Fiona had me smiling a lot with the things she said like when she said she read her math book because she was “that bored.”  I found Fiona incredibly likable.  Her invisibility defines her whole life and she struggles with the fact that she could potentially be the perfect criminal, that no one will ever call her pretty, and that sometimes she isn’t even treated like a person with feelings since people can’t see them expressed on her face…. Read more

The old Sahara Hotel is in sight, with its Moroccan dome and vintage sign.  I can’t believe the thing hasn’t been torn down yet…

That quote totally gave me an Ocean’s 11 vibe and I couldn’t stop imagining her dad as Terry Benedict from that moment on.

 The last time we ran, we ended up in the middle of the Utah desert.

Spoiler Discussion

Sometimes, I really crave to talk about spoilers with some books.  And this is one of them.  If you have read this book I would like to discuss. :)

So, what did you think when you found out that Seth could see her the whole time!  I couldn’t believe I missed that one.  Was it obvious to you? I should have seen it when they said his super power was math.  Come on. Super lame and probably not real.  My favorite thing when I went back and re-read it was the new meaning of Seth looking at his shoes when they are looking for Fiona in the desert – he wasn’t bored. He was trying to avert his eyes from the naked “invisible” girl. LOL!

I found it so adorable that when she realizes for the first time that she can be seen by Seth that her first reaction is to run since she’s used to hiding all the time.  I found it so touching and realistic.  When she deals with her fear and comes back to him, it was the most intimate and romantic thing when he tells her what she looks like.

I loved that the brothers, Brady and Seth, were like two halves of Superman – one had super strength and the other had x-ray vision.

I thought the story of Brady and the disadvantages of strength was like Breaking Dawn, but with a sad ending since there were no sparkly vampire to save her life :(

I commented while I was reading that emitting odors was a useless power but oh the irony that smells WAS a good super power.  Way to go older brother Miles copying his creepy father pheromones and getting people to listen to him instead of creepy father.
